The Data Committee tracks conveyance Industry accident and fatality and injury/illness research and keep the reports updated.
The DOL Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) industry classification system captures the Elevator “Conveyance” industry under a broad categorized classification “NAICS 238200 - Building Equipment Contractors” It was determined early in discussions that this classification did not truly capture the Injury/illness data the was reflective of the Conveyance Industry.
As a result, the Alliance Partners agreed to submit non employer specific Injury/Illness and Fatality data to OSHA using the National Institute of Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) as a third party. The data which is collected annually is being used by the committee to assist in identifying industry trends.
